Special thank you to Congresswoman Joyce Beatty and the U.S. House of Representatives for recognizing KBK Foundation Founders Dr. Keith B. & Donica Key for their passion and commitment for Black art and artists!
About the Award:
“On behalf of the citizens of the Third Congressional District of Ohio, I am pleased to recognize Dr. Keith B. and Mrs. Donica D. Key for their contributions in support of Black art and artists.
Dr. Keith B. Key holds an Honorary Doctor of Public Service, and his wife, Donica D. Key, holds a master’s degree in health education. Both are firm believers in the transformative power of art as a tool for empowerment and social change, particularly for future generations
Their advocacy in support of Black artists aims to foster a more positive portrayal of the Black community, countering race-based negativity and biases. Black art serves as a means of amplifying the Black experience fostering connections between the past, present, and future. As board members of the KBK Foundation, they have played pivotal roles in successfully organizing the annual Culture: Black Fine Art Expo in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to showcasing the work of Black artists from across the country.
Dr. Keith B. Key serves on the boards of The Ohio State University Foundation, the Columbus College of Art & Design Board of Trustees, and the Columbus State Community College Foundation. He is also the CEO of Keith B. Key Enterprises (aka KBK Enterprises), a national real estate development company that specializes in large-scale urban development projects across the country.
Mrs. Donica Key brings over 30 years’ experience as a registered nurse, currently serving in Columbus City Schools. She serves on the Advisory Committee for the United Way-sponsored Action for Children, the Advisory Committee for Columbus City Schools, and is a member of the Medical Response Team for Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Today, May 2, 2024, I commend Dr. Keith B. and Mrs. Donica D. Key for their sustained support of Black art and artists here in Central Ohio and throughout the nation.”
