Several children participating in the E.T.S.S. afterschool program at The Heirtage were tasked with writing essays highlighting various historical figures depicted in artwork and significant institutions within the African-American community. These figures included Miles Davis, James Brown, Louis Armstrong, and landmarks like the Apollo Theatre in New York, among others. Three of these students had the opportunity to present their essays to fellow students, staff, and members of the KBK Foundation Board, providing a valuable educational experience on the contributions of African-Americans to society and their pivotal roles in shaping governmental policies for civil rights.
